It’s That Time of Year Again…

Hello!

It’s that time of the year when we change focus, again. Now we are in the last months of the year and we tend to review what our year goals were, stake stock in the realities and relevancy of those goals, and push forward, renewed in our determination to meet as many of our hopes and dreams as we can. Before the holidays if we are lucky but before the New Year, when we do a complete overhaul and start again.

If you are a well organized person, you have one year, five year and maybe even ten year goals. This has been a huge transition year for us. Retirement for hubby and career trials and errors for me. I intend on refocusing my writing goals.

I am nearly finished with the O’Connor Series. I might bring in a few novellas for holidays but Cian and Molly, nearly written, is the last unmarried sibling. The last book transitions to one of my new series, Safe and Secure, Saving Sharlee was the first in that series. Several other new series, Clearwater Ranch has two more books in the offing and Wind River Series needs revisiting.

So, am I where I want to be in September 2018? Not quite. But close. Next year is already in the planning. How about you? Are you finding time to refocus your goals and efforts to come in strong as the year closes? I hope so.

Here is my spotlight book for the week:

Revenge in the Highlands

Revenge in the Highlands-BG Pic #2
Eileen is driven by pain and betrayal, can a loving hand heal her broken heart?

Morgan MacAlister and his wife, Kat, return to the Highlands to reclaim Morgan’s heritage, only to find that the sister he left behind is waging a war of vengeance on their traitorous half-brother, Canton. Eileen is no longer the innocent young girl he remembers.

Gallagher Glencairn has returned with Morgan to reclaim his own inheritance and finds that the golden-haired lass with the beautiful haunted eyes now rules his clan. Gallagher is determined he’ll take his clan back any way he can. He gives Eileen two choices: she can agree to wed him, or he will wage war against her and take his inheritance back.

Eileen is tough on the outside but harbors a terrible secret within – a secret of pain, betrayal, and a fierce desire for revenge.

Publisher’s Note: This steamy historical romance, set in the Highlands, contains old-fashioned, loving discipline.

Yummy Excerpt: PG

When the sharp whistle pierced the air, Eileen was unprepared. With a snort, Minion reared up and whinnied then took off at an instant gallop, dragging Delilah with him. It was Minion who was leading now, and with the rope tied to Delilah’s saddle, Delilah automatically took off after him, following his lead like a subservient female. Eileen cursed as she grabbed the reins and tried to pull Delilah in, but the little mare was rebelling, not wanting to return to her control. It was only a matter of seconds before Minion came to a halt in front of the mocking Gallagher and Eileen was looking into the piercing eyes of her handsome new husband.

Let go of my horse,” she demanded as his hand reached out to take Delilah’s bridle. Her hand flew to the rope to release Minion but Gallagher reached up and grabbed her, tugging her from the saddle. Eileen screeched as she felt herself falling and she landed on his hard chest, her free hand scrabbling at his shoulder to control her fall. She felt his other arm grip her below her buttocks and hoist her on over his shoulder. He then slapped her protruding rear end several times, his hard hand burning through her riding skirt with a vengeance. She bucked straight up, kicking against his thighs uncontrollably as she cried out in pain. Let go of me, damn you,” she hissed through clenched teeth.

Gallagher simply carried her, struggling and kicking over to a large rock. He sat her on her feet and held onto her arm with one hand, while his other hand went to his belt. His silver eyes burning into hers, he deftly unsnapped the Glencairn crested buckle and drew the wide strap from its loops.

Eileen began to struggle in earnest, kicking out at him, trying to free her arm from his iron grasp. “Ye are not going to use that thing on me, I won’t allow it,” she demanded stridently, her face blanching at the grim determination on his. Her buttocks were already burning from the hard slaps he’d administered and she was close to panicking at the thought of that broad belt landing across her tender cheeks.

Ye are in no position to demand anything, wife, and ye are about to find out what happens when ye disobey my orders.” Grimly he sat and dragged her over his lap. Folding the long belt in half, he lifted his arm and brought it crashing down in the middle of her wriggling backside.

Meet Brandy Golden

I’m a sweet romance writer with some hanky spanky play added in. I like to write about strong alpha males who don’t mind taking their ladies in hand when they need it and who want to share the special bond that spanking can bring between a couple. My stories are mostly basic simple discipline in a romantic setting with very protective men. Cowboys, pirates, business suits, you name it, they are all sexy when they are dominant and I love to write their stories. I’ve been writing on and off for around fifteen years now and I still love it. You can find me in middle america, cowboy and ranching country, with my husband and a wonderful family of children and grandchildren around me. I hope you enjoy my adventures as much as I enjoy creating them for you. Brandy

PK Corey & Book 3 in Cal’s Law Series

Good Morning,

Well, home school started last Monday and it has taken a week before I think we are in a rhythm and schedule we can deal with.

Our youngest son is graduating before Christmas and then we will be down to one lone daughter. We are working on our “second” round of children of which there have been six . It has been a long haul for us (over 38 years of parenting), but one well worth the work and extension of our “active duty” parenting.

While I thought about that this week, watching as my husband takes his retirement and finds a livable balance with a new normal, I can see the many ways that we, as parents, friends, lovers, weave to avoid the obstacles and embrace the joys in life to ultimately create a lovely tapestry of our days, unique to ourselves.

My hope for you all, as we start into the final harvest of the year and the fall season, is that we remember to savor the spices of life. Find comfort in the challenges because we are weaving our life’s tapestry and we will look back fondly on those threads as each stage of life blends with another.

Enjoy the last dog days of summer. A new season will be here soon!

Now, need a Tuesday Tease? I have one… and a few recommendations…

Jenny finds herself being stalked by a mysterious police officer who views every move she makes as criminal. Everyone she cares about knows that what ensues is not Jenny’s doing, but she can’t keep herself from giving in to some sweet revenge. Her plan starts out as a silly college girl prank, but soon lands her on the wrong side of Cal’s law.

NOW,  take a bite…

Cal loved that Jenny was honest with him, even when she knew it would get her in trouble. His mind flashed back to a time she had lied to him early in their relationship and the spanking had been significant. He’d used that incident to try to convince her that spanking could alter behavior. She’d disagreed with him, ‘It wasn’t the spanking that keeps me from lying to you–it was the fact that I felt like shit until I finally told you the truth. It wasn’t worth it,’ she’d insisted. And Cal had realized that her explanation him feel even better.

Cal brought his mind back to the present. He couldn’t ignore her being at a party where people were smoking. Because of his job, this was serious. It was why he’d made the rule. “You know you’re getting a spanking, don’t you?”

“Duh! I knew that about ten seconds into your phone call this morning. Can we just get it over with?”

Cal nodded and took her hand. He led her to the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. Jenny stood before him. She could tell Cal wasn’t really mad. He just felt that there had to be a follow through. Her butterflies were more from a chance to be alone with her husband than from worrying about any spanking. She stood still as Cal lowered her shorts and panties.

Positioning her over his lap, he repeated his rule, “I don’t mind you going to the occasional party, you just have to leave if drugs come out. And I mean from pot to coke, anything.”

“I never go to any parties with anything worse than pot, and you know that,” Jenny told him emphatically.

“Good,” Cal responded as he positioned her across his lap. Jenny was grateful he was only using his hand and that he began with moderate swats. Her gratitude waned as his hand fell harder and faster.

“Shit, Cal. Not so hard!” she demanded.

The next two swats were harder still and landed on her thighs. “Son of a bitch! Stop,” Jenny shouted.

Cal paused to make sure Jenny could hear him. “You keep up the cussing and this could last a while. You made the decision to break the rules, you take the consequences. And I’m telling you, cussing during a spanking is never going to be a good idea.”

Meet PK Corey

After spending thirty-six years in two careers I liked just fine, I’ve finally found my dream career as a writer. I’ve been happily married for thirty-five-years and my sweet husband has gotten used to the unique experience of living with a writer. He is very encouraging and an excellent editor when he’s pressed into service.

I’ve been intrigued by spanking stories since before I first saw Ricky spank Lucy. Stories of this nature were hard to come by before the Internet and the ones I found were a little harsh on discipline and very much lacking in love. So, I made up my own stories and enjoyed these in my head for years. I finally began writing them down. Although the lovely women in my stories are spanked often, the love between them and their men takes top priority.

My Cassie’s Space series shows a mature couple who are deeply in love. Despite loving Cassie’s free-spirited ways, Tom is determined to keep her safe, even if it takes a trip over his knee. And with her friend Sue by her side and all they get into, a trip over his knee is very likely. My new series, Cal’s Law, is about a younger couple. Though they come from very different backgrounds, love and discipline draw them together.

I love my husband, my kids, my cats, reading, writing and hearing from my readers. You can contact me at pk.corey@yahoo.com

Calling all Christmas lovers!

             L… O… N… G          P…O…S…T             T…O…D…A…Y

I have some news! I am part of a wonderfully talented group and have been kindly invited to join them on this Love, Christmas 2 Collection.

But before I venture further into that, I wanted to talk about changes in my world. So, its August, the month where U.S. children return to school. Remember we have 11 children (long, complicated story. OF COURSE, I’m writing a book about it but not in this arena. I’ll keep you updated as there are updates.)

But, for now, lets focus on the new upcoming events. I have the first book of Cian and Molly’s story done and the remaining two of the trilogy outlined. WHEW! I’m excited to finish them and that is the only WIPS I am working on as I promised to have it earlier in the summer and things…LIFE… got in the way.

Anyway, we are homeschooling again this year but adding our 8th grader (our youngest. Her brother will graduate in November with plans to go to college in January.) Hope the heat moderates for us ALL!

Updates, a Contest, Recommendations

Hello all!

I’ve been busy this summer, how about you? I went to Blushing Books workshops in May then RT18-Reno, NV in May, Deadwood, SD in June, road-tripping in July, and East Texas Book Bash last weekend. WHEW!

I am finding how different retirement is when you don’t have most of your children and grandchildren around. This is only the third time in almost 30 years that I have spent the whole summer south of Alaska and let me tell you it has been a learning experience.

I’ll share a few things:

Lesson 1: It is HOT! I might repeat this one, because it is important. It is HELLACIOUSLY HOT! (adverb important here!)

Lesson 2: There are no grandchildren. On a day I want to be quiet and work hard, that is acceptable. But on the days you’re being lazy or your husband is bothering you while you are trying to work…or you have lots of leftovers… not so much.

Lesson 3: You can say, “Let’s go for a drive,” and leave in ten minutes for a day trip, seeing new sights while driving the highways. Not easy on an Island.

Lesson 4: If someone asks for a “coke” you must ask “what kind”.

Lesson 5: Summer rainstorms involve lightning and thunder but not gale force winds.

Lesson 6: It still gets dark in the south during summer- but it is still HOT!

Lesson 7: You are going to miss Alaska’s mountains, oceans, and your family but you will love the wide open spaces and things to do in Texas. So spend part of the year in Texas and part in Alaska. Best of both worlds. That’s us next year!

But when it is too hot in the South or too rainy in S.E. Alaska, there are always BOOKS! I have some recommendations below and a special contest.

Here is a book you should pre-order… for Fall and Winter reading.   I was honored to be invited to join the group. The heat levels go from Mild to Spicy… something for everyone! AND there is a Contest!

Sprinkle a little Christmas magic into your life with 25 ALL-NEW, never before released romances. It’s .99cents!

New Release Alert

It’s hot, isn’t it?

Even in Southeast Alaska we have hit the 80’s and believe me, that is at least ten degrees TOO HOT. Texas is scorching but I hear there is more to come. Really? And you choose this heat on purpose? Well, this summer, I am one of the Texans and next summer I hope to be spending my summer season back in Alaska.

I am frantically working on two WIPs in different subgenres and one gives me relief from the other so I don’t burn out on either before they are completed. I am happy to say it is working for the most part. But that brings up a question, how much time should you devote to your business? Is there a healthy amount of time?

Personally, it is the most difficult issue for me because I’m a workaholic and when I love what I do, I am zoned for hours at a time. I sometimes have to force myself to give my family, who I love even more than my work, the time they deserve without being annoyed they have interrupted my scene.

But guess what I am discovering? When I am more balanced in my energies, I am a better writer and a better mother, wife, lover, daughter, friend. I’m still frustrated when I make myself leave my writing cave. I am working on doing just that, more often.

So, how much time is healthy? I don’t know that and I suspect it is variable. For now, I’m on the inside of coolness looking out on sunshine and waves of heat, writing. But I’m happy and I think THAT is the best indicator of all.

Hope the weekend is all you had hoped and more to come. Happy Reading!

Have you read any good reviews, lately?

I have recently read this article from the NYT.       NYT ARTICLE

I recently read an article about bad reviews. It was well written and I have suffered the angst of someone writing a review, putting three stars out of five and saying they absolutely love it, to someone who has put a one star, describing the plot of someone else’s book, and why it didn’t work. Well, thanks for that, but it might not have worked because it wasn’t my book!?!? (we can’t do that type of punctuation in our books, Editors get testy)

And finally, the LOVELY reviewer who not only read the book but actively pulled out actual events in the story to illustrate their feelings on the book, good or bad, that is an incredible review.  But remember, you can always just say, “I liked the characters” and that’s cool too, honestly.

Personally, I don’t leave less than a 4-star review if the effort in writing was obvious. Sometimes it isn’t, and I am tactful in my 3 star reviews or I don’t review it.

I know what one bad review can do to a book with only a few reviews to recommend it. Also, Amazon says 3 stars means you are writing a bad review. Amazon, since when do you say average, (3 out of 5 is average), is a bad thing?

So, reviews are like lovers, we all want one but most will skip the experience if he/she is going to leave us with a broken heart.  OKAY, enough said.

The_Black_Laird_Requires

At the end of the week, we are shooting for this Thursday, June 21, 2018, a new book is coming out. If you loved Lord Thayer’s Choice, and Lord Ashton Decides, then you will want to pick up my Scots/Irish Tale, The Black Laird Requires.

Here is an excerpt of this yummy tale of a Sassy Lass with a few secrets and more sass than is good for her and her stern Laird who is excited to rein in his woman, but not too much…

“That is the reason you like me when I am uncertain and weak.” She could feel herself shrivel inside.

“Is that how you see it? Och, that isn’t it at all. I have thought on things and this is the way of it.” He tucked her against him again and smoothed her hair as he spoke. “I know, given my business and my position in life, I need a woman who is self-assured and can keep her own house. I will need that even more now with the Scottish estate. I can’t need to direct her on how to run her part of our holdings. She can’t be intimidated by the people who come to see me whether they be aristocrat or dock rat. That is Cairistine.” He took a moment and Cairistine nodded.

“But it isn’t all of me, milaird.”

“Aye and glad I am of that. If it were only Cairistine I needed, there are many women I could choose from. I would nae have to look hard. But I want more. I need a woman who loves me and is adventuresome in bed. I need a woman who will check to see no one is looking and then rub her wantonness over me like a brazen bird and then grin when she leaves me wanting. I need a woman who will shoot fiery arrows at me and stand her ground when I skelp her arse because she resents my hand but begs for the leather. I need a woman who burns for my touch because she cannot imagine another’s and lets me take her however I wish because it fills her needs as well. That woman is you, Cairis.”

Cairis ran her hand over his and touched her lips to his palm. “But milaird, are you sure?”

“Aye, but I’m nae done, lass. Finally, I need a woman who loves me enough and is comfortable enough in who she is to be vulnerable with only me, in the privacy of our home. A lass who is my wee colleen. The bairn that is always good but often naughty. I need someone who looks to me as her Da in a grown up but little lady way, who allows us to play.” Cairis looked up at him in some confusion.

“My woman needs to be little for me but also for herself. She’ll allow the comfort she needs, the insecurities that surface to be assured away, and the naughtiness, that a grown up lady is never allowed, to be addressed by me. I need my bairn to allow me to bare her bottom for naughty spankings when she is throwing a temper tantrum and she never looks for the type of gratification that Cairis needs.”

“But that would bring ridicule down on us.”

“No, Cari needs naps and protection from the loch monsters and the Fae. She needs sweetmeats and baths because she simply can’t deal with another thing until she has that nurture. And she wants it only from me, in the privacy of us alone.”

Cairis nodded. “This is what Lady Thayer and Lady Ashton have.” It was a statement of fact, not a question.

“Aye. So, my love, you are the only woman who is perfect for me. I am the only man that can meet your needs as completely as you meet mine.”
