Happy Reading… your Viking warrior book boyfriends await

“You can make it up to me later,” he demanded as he sauntered towards the place
where she was still kneeling. “After I have punished you for defying me.”

Brigid panted at Jerrik’s assertions, and she drew in a deep breath, as if to compose
herself. “I know I am your wife now,” she murmured in response. “But I am also a grown
woman, Jerrik, and a mother. I cannot have you punishing me, especially in front of Bram.”

Her tone was laced with just a hint of insolence, and it was enough to stir his already
unsatisfied cock.

“You no longer have the choice,” he reminded her flatly. “You’re my responsibility
now, Brigid, and our children will be of my heritage. Your defiance will be punished. It is
how us Vikings deal with such things.”
She dropped the vegetables and rose unsteadily to her feet. Brigid was trembling, and
Jerrik wondered if it was fear that inspired the gesture, or something else. It had been some time since Brigid had been mastered, and he was starting to wonder if her first husband had ever truly done the job. He sensed there was a part of her that wanted to yield to someone stronger than herself, but the woman had spent so long being responsible for herself and Bram, she seemed to be struggling with the new power dynamic. Jerrik could understand that.

He needed to guide her.
“What will you do?” she whispered, gazing up at him with anxious eyes.
Jerrik smiled, moving towards her and taking one of those small, cold palms in his
hands. “Nothing severe,” he promised. “Just enough to remind you of your place.”
“The b-birch?” she stammered, barely able to articulate the final word.
Evidently, his little wife had quite the fear of the birch, and he mused that it would be
worth remembering that for future misdemeanours, of which he was sure they would be a great many.
“No,” he assured her. “Not this time.”
Brigit exhaled in apparent relief. “Then what?”
Jerrik shook his head with a grin. “I had intended to surprise you with the penance
later,” he said, dropping his tone as he inched towards her body.
“Please,” she replied, craning her neck to look up into his eyes. “I’ve never done this
before, Jerrik. Bram’s father never…” She paused, lowering her gaze.
“He never punished you?” Jerrik offered. He wasn’t well versed in Pict traditions, but it seemed ludicrous that the man had done nothing to love or guide his spouse at all.
“He never really did anything to me,” she replied with a sigh. “Apart from the
obvious—usually when he had consumed too much mead. So long as I fed him on time, he generally left me be.”
“I see.” Jerrik’s tone had lowered in response to Brigid’s description. He was pleased
he would never have to meet this man and make him atone for his incompetence. It seemed as though there was already enough to be done.
“You’ll find I am quite a different proposition,” he told her. “I have high expectations
of you, Brigid, but I will repay your effort with my sword and dagger which will protect and provide for you, and with my body, which will honour you. I’m sure you know to what I speak, but if there was any doubt, then I hope the last evenings have reassured you?”
Brigid sucked her lower lip between her teeth at Jerrik’s words. It was clear she did
remember their unions of consummation. “Yes,” she replied in a breathy tone. “I should like more of that.”
Her face flamed at the admission, and he chuckled at her embarrassment. “And you
shall have it,” he told her. “Just as you shall bear my punishment.”
She swallowed, but in those hazel eyes there was a flicker of acknowledgement.
“Aye, well,” she murmured. “I will try and yield, Jerrik, yet I think I am out of practise.”
Jerrik grinned at the concession. “A good, hard, bare-bottomed spanking over my
knee should help you to remember,” he drawled. “Do you not think?”
Her breaths were coming out in short, fast pants. “A spanking?”
He nodded. “Yes.”
Brigid closed her eyes at his edict. “Then please, Jerrik, do not make me endure it in
front of my son. This is new to him also.”
Jerrik appraised her pained expression with interest. He’d never even contemplated
the child witnessing her penance until now; in fact, until this morning, he’d never even
contemplated having a child before.
“We shall find something to amuse him this afternoon,” he decided, raising his hand
to gently tilt her chin in his direction.
The touch of his hand at her face drew Brigid’s eyes open in an instant, and for a long
moment, their eyes locked.

“And once we are alone, you will learn how to submit, wife.”

Holiday Hope

by

Libby Campbell

When Hannah goes to the wedding as someone’s date, she doesn’t expect to leave with the groom.

Holiday Hope-LC cover

Hannah Hansen is only hoping for one thing this Christmas: someone to share her life. She’s not asking for the hottest male model, but please Santa, could he be a little bit alpha? Sensitive new age guys make great friends, but men who are decisive and slightly bossy make her tingle all over.

Then handsome, rich Steve Shewchuk invites her to be his last-minute, plus one at a wedding. Hannah’s hopes soar as Steve’s definitely the dominant type. But before their date is off the ground, Hannah realizes she has made a mistake. Steve’s veneer of an appealing alpha personality hides his thoughtless self absorption. In response to a call from the distressed bride-to-be, he drops Hannah a block from the church, forcing her to walk through a driving rainstorm alone.

Hannah arrives at the church, soaked to the skin, with her expensive hairdo ruined. She realizes her hopes for a future with Steve have washed down the drain along with her mascara.  When the groom, charming Charles Descôteaux helps her in her moment of distress, there is an instant, electrical connection between them.

Could Charles be the assertive man she’s been hoping for? When Charles needs her help, will she be brave enough to rally to his side?

YOU WILL LOVE THIS! Take a look!

Wide-eyed with disbelief, people looked from Hannah to Charles back again. A few smiled, enjoying the dramatic change in events. The bride’s family in the front rows on the other side of the church glared at Hannah.

A slow grin crept over Charles’s face.

“Quite right,” Charles said, sliding his finger around the collar of his shirt again. “I’ve spoken to the Halsey Club and told them to move up the program for tonight. They are expecting the first of our guests to start arriving shortly. There is an open bar. Hors d’oeuvres are being prepared as I speak. A band has been booked so there will be dancing after one of the club’s legendary dinners. Hannah and I hope you will join us.”

A few people stood and pushed toward them, but Charles held onto Hannah’s hand. “We’ll see you at the Halsey Club,” he said and turned off the microphone. Robert was signaling them from the chapel, so Charles led Hannah there at a quick trot.

The three of them ran out into the rain and Robert pointed down the block. “I’m parked back there. Run for it.”

Charles was careful not to run any faster than Hannah could manage, and she appreciated that he understood how pumps, even with low heels, slowed a person down. Robert got to the four-door sedan before them and opened both the passenger door and backseat door before hopping behind the wheel.

Charles closed the passenger door and ushered Hannah into the backseat. Then he ran around and climbed in beside her from the driver’s side. He tapped Robert’s shoulder, “To the Halsey Club, James.”

Then he threw his head back and gave one long hoot of laughter. He brought Hannah’s hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles. “Who are you and what the hell did you just do?”

Hannah saw Robert glance at her in the rearview mirror, waiting for her answer.

“I’m Hannah Hansen. Mild-mannered accountant by day, undiscovered improv genius and agent provocateur by night.”

“What’s an agent provocateur?” Robert asked.

“No idea,” Hannah said, enjoying being so close to Charles tall muscular body.

“A general shit disturber.” Charles closed his hands around hers. “You’re shivering.”

“Can’t deny it,” Hannah said. “I’ve been soaked twice in one night. That tends to make me cold.”

When Charles wrapped a muscular arm around her shoulder, she felt instantly warmer, as though he’d pulled her into a protective force field.

Robert said, “I don’t know what possessed you to get up and claim responsibility for canceling the wedding, but I personally want to thank you. Charles was going to wing it but if he’s not talking about the night sky, he can be a very boring speaker. We could still be in the church waiting for him to stutter out answers while people grilled him.”

“When you’ve got a restless crowd, you have to get in front of them,” Hannah said. “Your parents were kind of freaking out. I thought it might help if I drew all the fire onto me. So I started improvising. And I hinted at love spurned because everyone loves a romance. Everyone who has a heart that is.”

Charles chuckled. “But they’re going to know it’s not true. I only just met you.”

“But they won’t figure that out immediately. And now they’ve got a bit of a mystery too. Everyone loves a mystery. Well everyone who has the slightest bit of curiosity does.”

“What were you going to say to the gathered masses, big brother? Got any ideas?”

“Not offhand,” Charles admitted. “But I’m sure if I stood there long enough, I would have thought of something.”

Libby Campbell in her own words:

My romance novels feature strong, self-reliant women and the powerful men who love them. Romantic by nature, I write the stories I want to read: those that feature a spicy power exchange and deliver a sting in the tale.

Canadian by birth, I also lived in Australia for a couple of decades. While living there I overcame my aversion to saucer-sized spiders and, as a condition of marriage to my Aussie Prince Charming, I swore a lifelong allegiance to the Melbourne Football Club.

Then family called and my husband and I packed up and moved. We now live on a rocky island on Canada’s West Coast, close to beaches that once were frequented by smugglers and rumrunners.

My passions are reading and writing. I adore all animals and love hiking, beachcombing, and an occasional night of dancing.

Blurb

Forced to wed the fierce Viking warlord in order to save her people, Eithne has no choice but to surrender to her powerful and terrifying husband. She submits to his stern discipline, but his tenderness takes her breath away. A man of his word, Brandr means to keep his side of their bargain and will see her village safe and protected from their enemies. But what of Eithne? Who will protect her as she learns to care for this ferocious man who now leads her people and holds her heart in his mighty hands?

Excerpt from Vikings:  The Prologue

“We shall not surrender, nor shall we flee…. this is an unequal contest, and we cannot win. To take up arms against men such as them would lead to certain death.”

“Better to die with honour—”

“Better still not to die at all. I have another idea. We shall negotiate.”

Rhiannon gaped at her. “Are you quite mad? You would have more success seeking to bargain with a wildcat, or that wolf which Ailsa insists upon keeping.”

“They are men, not animals. They will listen to reason.”

“That is a matter of opinion. I still say—”

“For once, Rhiannon, please, just do as you are told. Put down that weapon and go hide with the others. I shall go and speak with these…these…Norsemen.”

“You are bent on this madness?”

“It is the only way…”

“Then, if you insist upon facing them, I shall be at your side. I consider this a foolhardy notion, but I will not let you go alone.”

Despite Rhiannon’s belligerent tone, Eithne had never been more pleased to have her at her side. Theirs was not an easy relationship, it never had been, but Eithne loved her sister by marriage and was proud of her courage. “Ah, my sister. I see your father in you, and your brother. I shall be glad to have you with me, but by all that is holy, you must keep quiet and let me do the talking.” Eithne turned and dashed towards the path leading down into the narrow cove where the Vikings’ ships already swooped in towards the beach. “And put that damned sword away before someone gets hurt.”

“You are muttering to yourself. What are you saying?” Rhiannon scrambled behind Eithne down the cliff path.

“I am trying to recall a few words of Norse. There were Nordic settlers close to my childhood home on Orkney, and I picked up a few phrases. I thought if I were to greet them cordially…”

“You imagine you might resolve this situation by wishing them a pleasant morning and discussing the weather?”

Eithne did not blame Rhiannon for being incredulous. She could barely believe it herself. But if words were to be her weapons, she would do her best to assemble the best ones.

They emerged from the path onto the sand and shingle, at the same instant that the leading dragon ship swept onto the beach. Already the first of the warriors were leaping over the sides into the surf, wading ashore.

“Wait here,” Eithne commanded. “And say nothing.”

She stepped forward. Alone.

Brandr : A Viking Warrior Romance (Viking Surender #2) by Ashe Barker

mybook.to/Brandr

Excerpt from Brandr

She lay still and allowed his teasing, his gentle knowing, but she flinched and let out a sharp hiss when he pinched her nipple. The bud had hardened under his ministrations, poking against the fabric of her shift, begging to be squeezed.

He leaned over her, his weight on one elbow.

“Take this off,” he commanded.

“I…”

“Take it off. I would have you naked in our bed. Always.”

“Yes, Viking,” she murmured and knelt to draw the garment over her head. She clutched it, briefly, in front of her breasts, then tossed it to one side and raised her chin to meet his gaze.

Odin’s teeth, but she is beautiful. Brandr bit back a groan, then cupped her face between both his hands. He brushed his mouth over hers and was rewarded when she parted her lips for him. Slowly, cautiously, she raised her hands to rest them on his shoulders as he deepened the kiss. His tongue dived deep, curling, dancing with hers. Her hair was loose and fell across his hands in silky, ebony waves, then spread over the mattress as he eased her back onto the pallet.

Brandr supported his own weight on his elbows and continued to kiss her. Eithne writhed under him. She tunnelled her elegant fingers through his loosened locks and twisted the strands around her small fist as though she was afraid to let go. He broke the kiss, but only for a moment before shifting to fasten his lips around one pebbled nipple.

Eithne arched and let out a cry. Brandr sucked, scraped the sensitive bud with his teeth, then sucked harder. She wriggled and squirmed against him so, encouraged, he shifted to the other breast, at the same time using his fingers to roll and squeeze the slick, swollen nub he had abandoned.

“Viking,” she muttered, then, “Brandr.” Her voice rose as she cried out his given name.

Her arousal built, stoked as much by her fear and anxiety, her relief, perhaps, at having found a protector, and the sensation long denied since the loss of her husband. Brandr cared not what lay at the root of her surrender, but he would exploit the factors at his disposal. He reached down with his hand, stroking the soft mound of her stomach, then parting the soft wisps of hair which guarded her entrance.

Despite her obvious pleasure in his touch, she stiffened. He paused, but only for a moment, enough to allow her to accept, to comply.

He would not force her, though she was not to know that. She relaxed, her muscles softening and she spread her thighs for him.

“Beautiful, little Pict,” he whispered into the shell of her ear. “Trust me. I will not hurt you.”

“Y-you mean to take a switch to me,” she murmured back.

“Not tonight. Tonight, I shall hear your cries for an entirely different reason.”

Meet Ashe

USA Today best-selling author Ashe Barker has been an avid reader of fiction for many years, erotic and other genres. She still loves reading, the hotter the better. But now she has a good excuse for her guilty pleasure – research.

Ashe tends to draw on her own experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters. An incident here, a chance remark there, a bizarre event or quirky character, any of these can spark a story idea.

Ashe lives in the North of England, on the edge of the Brontë moors and enjoys the occasional flirtation with pole dancing and drinking Earl Grey tea. When not writing – which is not very often these days – her time is divided between her role as taxi driver for her teenage daughter, and caring for a menagerie of dogs, tortoises.  And a very grumpy cockatiel.

At the last count Ashe had over forty titles on general release with publishers on both sides of the Atlantic, and several more in the pipeline. She writes M/f, M/M, and occasionally rings the changes with a little M/M/f. Ashe’s books invariably feature BDSM. She writes explicit stories, always hot, but offering far more than just sizzling sex. Ashe likes to read about complex characters, and to lose herself in compelling plots, so that’s what she writes too.

Ashe has a pile of story ideas still to work through, and keeps thinking of new ones at the most unlikely moments, so you can expect to see a lot more from her.
