Blurb

Forced to wed the fierce Viking warlord in order to save her people, Eithne has no choice but to surrender to her powerful and terrifying husband. She submits to his stern discipline, but his tenderness takes her breath away. A man of his word, Brandr means to keep his side of their bargain and will see her village safe and protected from their enemies. But what of Eithne? Who will protect her as she learns to care for this ferocious man who now leads her people and holds her heart in his mighty hands?

Excerpt from Vikings:  The Prologue

“We shall not surrender, nor shall we flee…. this is an unequal contest, and we cannot win. To take up arms against men such as them would lead to certain death.”

“Better to die with honour—”

“Better still not to die at all. I have another idea. We shall negotiate.”

Rhiannon gaped at her. “Are you quite mad? You would have more success seeking to bargain with a wildcat, or that wolf which Ailsa insists upon keeping.”

“They are men, not animals. They will listen to reason.”

“That is a matter of opinion. I still say—”

“For once, Rhiannon, please, just do as you are told. Put down that weapon and go hide with the others. I shall go and speak with these…these…Norsemen.”

“You are bent on this madness?”

“It is the only way…”

“Then, if you insist upon facing them, I shall be at your side. I consider this a foolhardy notion, but I will not let you go alone.”

Despite Rhiannon’s belligerent tone, Eithne had never been more pleased to have her at her side. Theirs was not an easy relationship, it never had been, but Eithne loved her sister by marriage and was proud of her courage. “Ah, my sister. I see your father in you, and your brother. I shall be glad to have you with me, but by all that is holy, you must keep quiet and let me do the talking.” Eithne turned and dashed towards the path leading down into the narrow cove where the Vikings’ ships already swooped in towards the beach. “And put that damned sword away before someone gets hurt.”

“You are muttering to yourself. What are you saying?” Rhiannon scrambled behind Eithne down the cliff path.

“I am trying to recall a few words of Norse. There were Nordic settlers close to my childhood home on Orkney, and I picked up a few phrases. I thought if I were to greet them cordially…”

“You imagine you might resolve this situation by wishing them a pleasant morning and discussing the weather?”

Eithne did not blame Rhiannon for being incredulous. She could barely believe it herself. But if words were to be her weapons, she would do her best to assemble the best ones.

They emerged from the path onto the sand and shingle, at the same instant that the leading dragon ship swept onto the beach. Already the first of the warriors were leaping over the sides into the surf, wading ashore.

“Wait here,” Eithne commanded. “And say nothing.”

She stepped forward. Alone.

Brandr : A Viking Warrior Romance (Viking Surender #2) by Ashe Barker

mybook.to/Brandr

Excerpt from Brandr

She lay still and allowed his teasing, his gentle knowing, but she flinched and let out a sharp hiss when he pinched her nipple. The bud had hardened under his ministrations, poking against the fabric of her shift, begging to be squeezed.

He leaned over her, his weight on one elbow.

“Take this off,” he commanded.

“I…”

“Take it off. I would have you naked in our bed. Always.”

“Yes, Viking,” she murmured and knelt to draw the garment over her head. She clutched it, briefly, in front of her breasts, then tossed it to one side and raised her chin to meet his gaze.

Odin’s teeth, but she is beautiful. Brandr bit back a groan, then cupped her face between both his hands. He brushed his mouth over hers and was rewarded when she parted her lips for him. Slowly, cautiously, she raised her hands to rest them on his shoulders as he deepened the kiss. His tongue dived deep, curling, dancing with hers. Her hair was loose and fell across his hands in silky, ebony waves, then spread over the mattress as he eased her back onto the pallet.

Brandr supported his own weight on his elbows and continued to kiss her. Eithne writhed under him. She tunnelled her elegant fingers through his loosened locks and twisted the strands around her small fist as though she was afraid to let go. He broke the kiss, but only for a moment before shifting to fasten his lips around one pebbled nipple.

Eithne arched and let out a cry. Brandr sucked, scraped the sensitive bud with his teeth, then sucked harder. She wriggled and squirmed against him so, encouraged, he shifted to the other breast, at the same time using his fingers to roll and squeeze the slick, swollen nub he had abandoned.

“Viking,” she muttered, then, “Brandr.” Her voice rose as she cried out his given name.

Her arousal built, stoked as much by her fear and anxiety, her relief, perhaps, at having found a protector, and the sensation long denied since the loss of her husband. Brandr cared not what lay at the root of her surrender, but he would exploit the factors at his disposal. He reached down with his hand, stroking the soft mound of her stomach, then parting the soft wisps of hair which guarded her entrance.

Despite her obvious pleasure in his touch, she stiffened. He paused, but only for a moment, enough to allow her to accept, to comply.

He would not force her, though she was not to know that. She relaxed, her muscles softening and she spread her thighs for him.

“Beautiful, little Pict,” he whispered into the shell of her ear. “Trust me. I will not hurt you.”

“Y-you mean to take a switch to me,” she murmured back.

“Not tonight. Tonight, I shall hear your cries for an entirely different reason.”

Meet Ashe

USA Today best-selling author Ashe Barker has been an avid reader of fiction for many years, erotic and other genres. She still loves reading, the hotter the better. But now she has a good excuse for her guilty pleasure – research.

Ashe tends to draw on her own experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters. An incident here, a chance remark there, a bizarre event or quirky character, any of these can spark a story idea.

Ashe lives in the North of England, on the edge of the Brontë moors and enjoys the occasional flirtation with pole dancing and drinking Earl Grey tea. When not writing – which is not very often these days – her time is divided between her role as taxi driver for her teenage daughter, and caring for a menagerie of dogs, tortoises.  And a very grumpy cockatiel.

At the last count Ashe had over forty titles on general release with publishers on both sides of the Atlantic, and several more in the pipeline. She writes M/f, M/M, and occasionally rings the changes with a little M/M/f. Ashe’s books invariably feature BDSM. She writes explicit stories, always hot, but offering far more than just sizzling sex. Ashe likes to read about complex characters, and to lose herself in compelling plots, so that’s what she writes too.

Ashe has a pile of story ideas still to work through, and keeps thinking of new ones at the most unlikely moments, so you can expect to see a lot more from her.

Christmas Shorts

I know, its a bit early in my world to be doing Christmas things but Thanksgiving is just around the corner and our new Christmas book is out so, take a break, breath in the crisp evergreen scent and dive into these short, nibbles of Christmas delight. Just the thing to end your long day of living in the chaos of life in the holidays, or for those breaks you sneak between rushing around from one activity to another.

Take a break, breath a calming breath- make it a few, and read my heartwarming Christmas short story on the beginning of Ethan and Leilani’s Story. The following – novellas/novels will be the Engagement and the Wedding. Who knows? It could be more- I kinda love sagas.

My story in this wonderful collection is:  A Chance of Snow.

Temp worker Lani Stone loved her job. She never became bored before moving on to the next adventure. That was until she was hired to be the assistant for businessman Ethan Monroe while his own employee was out of the office. Ethan was everything she wanted in a man, kind, confident, good looking and low key. When the job ended, she never expected to see him again.chance of snow cover 25 percent

Ethan Monroe had fallen hard for the efficient, fun-loving Lani. He intended to pursue her but she’d left while he was out of the office. Soon after, business called him out of town. He accepted a ride home from the airport from an acquaintance and was pleasantly surprised when the driver was Leilani Stone.

Icy roads, a fall, decorating tips, and a chance of snow was all that Ethan needed to know this woman was a keeper. He hoped it was the same for her.

I have a new book coming out at the end of this month!

Lord Kendrick’s Obligation

I have really enjoyed writing another book in this series. Genevieve is tired of being what everyone else wants, determined to be the master of her own destiny for a change, but she had no idea that with her desire for freedom of other obligations, she needed so much more. She learns that sometimes you just need a little Papa time…

Thought you’d like a little taste before the main event!

Lord Kendrick's Obligation Cover.jpg

He wants a lady of quality on his arm, a mistress in his bed, and a princess to pamper.

When the time’s right. When he’s ready. When he finds her. But not yet. Lord Anthony Kendrick has obligations he fulfills daily but there is one he has yet to address; finding a wife and begetting heirs. All in due time. Without warning, he discovers the very woman he has been waiting for in his drawing room, and she needs what he can offer. If he were ready and if she were to agree.

Lady Genevieve Jacobson does not want to marry now, if ever. Her relatives disagree and pressure her to accept the offer of a man thirty years her senior. As the eldest, she is obligated to marry before her sister. Ginny refuses to comply. Suddenly her freedom and her very life is at stake. She must make some dangerous choices if she is to have any say in her future happiness.

When Kendrick finds Ginny has taken matters in her own hands and put herself in mortal danger, he decides the time is right to claim her. Even if she doesn’t agree.

This is book four in the Lords and Little Ladies series but reads as a standalone.

Publisher’s Note: This historical romance contains elements of mystery, suspense, action, adventure, power exchange, and sensual scenes. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

Kendrick laughed as he showed her his bedchambers beyond the sitting room. Where her room was light and airy, his chamber was dark and heavy wood. The sitting room was a good mixture of both, but she already knew of some things she would like to change, like comfortable chairs. Whoever used the room before, had no need for comfort.

“My man Forsythe will try to lock you out, but I’ll work on helping him to understand that I will always be accessible to you as you will always be accessible to me.”

“Within reason, surely.”

“For all reasons, my dear.” His voice did that volume drop and deepening that thrilled her and her body. “You will not lock me out without consequences. You can lock the outer door if you like but never the inner door. Understood?”

“But that is unseemly, sir.”

“Maybe in other homes with other people, but not in this house between me and my wife.”

“Fine.” Genevieve turned and stiffly walked from the sitting room to her bedroom, her skirts rustling as her steps progressed to an almost stomping as she went.

“I didn’t expect Evie to appear so soon after our arrival. Do you need me to address your attitude, little one?”

“Absolutely not, sir.” She had been in a continual state of arousal for most of the morning and now it had continued into the afternoon. The cheek of the man turning on his lord of the manor and Papa persona simultaneously. It was unfair. She had not realized how much it excited her until Kendrick. Did he know his effect on her? Almost certainly. She thought to close the door between them harshly and pulled her arm back in preparation but was stayed when Kendrick spoke. His voice immediately warning; her tummy immediately wiggling.

“Mind how you go, my love. You belong to me now. I will expect complete obedience.”

“But I’m a grown woman. I have my own mind. I’ve not magically become inept during the ceremony. You promised me freedoms.”

“Ah, and there is my Ginny, no holds barred. Take no prisoners. Speaks her mind and damn conventions.”

“Conventions? Surely you mistake the situation, milord. Conventions dictate good manners however, if a man’s word is his bond then it must defend dictums, surely, not ignore them. If he is honorable, he will uphold his word. And your word promised me freedoms.”

“And there is Lady Genevieve. You are quite right, milady. A man should keep his word and not sway to accommodate wherever the wind blows. I promised you many things, one of which was to hold you accountable. Get comfortable and help your maids with your unpacking. I will expect Lady Genevieve at dinner and Ginny in my bed tonight. And if you give in to your moody impulse to slam the door, I will scorch your delectable bottom before the echo of the sound reaches your ears.”

Her hands fisted. She lifted her leg to swing it and caught herself. Mortified because now he had pointed it out, she noticed every time she did what Kendrick called ‘Evie behavior’. She placed it back on the floor without a sound. Her papa might take exception to that movement at this precise moment. Instead, she closed the door quietly. Kendrick laughed. Rude man!
