People don’t usually disobey me… not without paying for it

TODAY I have Amelia Smarts with me to talk about her new book, The Unbraiding of Anna Brown.  Amelia, I have to say that I have read your book and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hi, Alyssa! Thanks for having me on your blog to discuss my book The Unbraiding of Anna Brown, published by Blushing Books.

This is a sweet western romance containing a whole lot of love and a bit of old-fashioned discipline/spanking. It will appeal to readers drawn to stories about a simpler time in history, when the men were often as tough as the land they sought to tame and the women as strong as they were submissive. I hope readers will delight in the journey Carter and Anna take on the path to love, and finish the novella feeling encouraged about the happiness to be found when risking love and romance. ~Amelia

About this book:

Anna wanted a job but was unprepared for the emotional labor she would endure when she convinced Carter to hire her to keep house and mind his small son after the death of his wife. She discovers that the gentle, teasing demeanor she’d witnessed from the cowboy previously has been buried along with his wife, forcing her to contend with the glowering, ill-tempered man who snaps at her and doesn’t notice or appreciate her earnest efforts. She quietly suffers his apathy and impatience until a single snub pushes her to her breaking point, causing her to take drastic action to get his attention.

Carter didn’t expect such behavior from this sweet, innocent girl. It startles him out of his stupor long enough to feel his palm itching to connect with her naughty backside. He finds himself slowly drawn out of his grief and depression thanks to the gutsy, but kind female presence in his life.

Anna discovers that the return of the cowboy’s awareness and ability to care means he is on to her penchant for danger and recklessness, and he’s not having it. She finds herself getting the bare-bottomed spanking of her life, and feels loved by a man for the first time. Then he abruptly ends her employment. Anna flees, devastated and confused, and Carter knows he must straighten her—and the situation—out before he can claim the infuriating and enchanting woman as his wife.

Read what people are saying in their 5 star reviews!

I really enjoyed this sweet story about a hardened, widowed rancher and the woman who brings him back to life. Anna is innocent and plain spoken, and pours love into a broken family. Carter is tough and stoic, but a true gentleman. The punishment and courting scenes were well crafted, and I found myself falling into the story as I watched the characters walk the path that leads to love.

This short and fast-paced book is very well-written. You cannot help but get sucked into the budding romance between Carter and Anna. Everything about the story is very believable. I especially appreciated how Carter, despite his hardened exterior, always treats Anna with respect and compassion…even when punishing her. It is easy to see how Anna would fall in love with him.

I adored Carter and Anna and their journey together. This book was just the right mix of what I love in a good romance novel and it will definitely be joining my re-read list.

I wish I could give 20 stars!! This was the sweetest most innocent, yet sexy and hot and had me laughing SO hard, book that I’ve read all year!!

Excerpt:

Carter reproached her. “Didn’t I tell you to rest? Go lie down.”

He noticed her shoulders become tense for a moment, but she responded with insistence in her voice. “I’m fine, Carter. I just want to make some supper.”

“Absolutely not,” he said. He was by her side in two seconds taking the frying pan from her hand. “You can either rest here or I can take you home to rest there. Your choice.”

Anna glared at him. She huffed and moved to a stool at the kitchen table instead of lying down, a variance to his order that he tolerated. Carter placed a pot of water over the fire. When it started to boil, he added beans. That and some leftover bread would have to do for supper. Turning, he leaned back against the counter and looked at Anna. The stubborn way she insisted on working and the brief flash of rebellion he’d seen in her eyes had riled him. Now sitting at the table, she wore such a forlorn expression that he considered taking her into his arms again, but he decided instead to give her a scolding.

“What should I do with you, Anna Brown?”

The expression on her face changed from forlorn to confused. “What do you mean?”

“I mean that you don’t seem to know what’s best for you. You’ve come to my place in the pouring rain and tried to walk home when it’s dark. You’ve put yourself in dangerous situations multiple times with my stallion.” Carter’s scowl deepened and he crossed his arms. “Today you ran all the way here instead of going home after getting hurt, and just now you tried to work when you should be resting. I even told you to rest, but you disobeyed me.” His voice lowered to a dangerous level. “People don’t usually disobey me. At least not without paying for it.”

Anna’s confused expression evolved into apprehension as he spoke. She looked down and mumbled something he couldn’t hear.

“Pardon?”

“Never mind,” she said in the direction of the table, a trace of defiance in her voice.

Carter’s voice took a warning tone. “I’m tempted to teach you a lesson right now about your reckless behavior and what may come of disobeying me.”

Anna looked up. “What kind of lesson?”

“I think you know.” Carter opened a drawer and picked up a wooden spoon. He slapped it against the palm of his hand several times and fixed a hard look on her.

Anna stood and glowered at him. “Are you saying you’re going to spank me with that?”

“I have half a mind to. Don’t you think you deserve it?”

“No! I’m not a child, Carter. You seem to have forgotten that.” She straightened her back and moved toward the front door. “I don’t have to listen to this,” she threw at him over her shoulder.

“Actually,” he said, leaning forward and catching her arm. He pulled her back with minimal effort and got in her face. “You do have to listen. Don’t forget who’s in charge here. I’m your boss, and when I tell you not to do something, it’s more than a suggestion.”

Anna looked at him with her mouth slightly open and her eyes flashing between anger and worry. She shook her arm out of his grasp and held her head higher. “Do you threaten to spank all your employees, Carter?”

I have already read this book and I wanted to add that it leaves you with a cosy warm feeling about love, loss, and hope. Read this one… you won’t regret it. Alyssa Bailey

Amelia, can you tell us just a little bit about yourself?
Sure!

I’m an avid reader and writer of spanking romance novels, usually involving a cowboy, always involving a firm hand and a scorched ass. If you were to peek inside my Kindle, you’d find plenty of spanking romances as well as books by John Steinbeck, Margaret Atwood, Gillian Flynn, and other authors from disparate genres. What all of my favorite stories share are complex characters who draw me into their struggles and successes. I’m drawn to reality TV for the same reason. I also enjoy horseback riding, short hikes, and long lectures. I live on the west coast of the U.S. with my musician husband, a sulcata tortoise, and two antisocial rabbits.

If he’s wrong, he might lose her forever

Good morning and Guess who popped in to chat this morning…

                       Summer Graystone

Summer, tell us about this scrumptous Christmas book you have out now, Kaia’s Christmas Mistletoe?

Kaia's Christmas Mistletoe

Sure, well let me set you up first:
When pop sensation Kaia is informed by her record label that her next collaboration will be with the infamous Oliver McFadden she’s furious to say the least. She’s supposed to hate him. He stole everything from her. And no matter how hard she tries, she can’t get it back. It was an evil thing to do and she’s resolved never to forgive him.
There was something about him though.
It was those eyes, the way he looked at her. His lips, the way his voice made her weak in the knees. He made her feel like she was the only girl in the room. Being forced to maintain a façade of friendship in public for marketing purposes, is hard enough, but a surprise kiss under the mistletoe only leaves her confused and conflicted.
Oliver McFadden has known Kaia for years, and despite her bratty attitude toward everything and everyone, he wants more than a work relationship with the maddening woman. He wants to have her over his lap, giving her the discipline he knows she needs so desperately. But that’s dangerous. If he’s wrong, he might lose her forever.
As they spend more time together, Kaia realizes that perhaps she has spent her time hating someone she doesn’t even really know. Oliver might just be the one. She can’t control herself around him and he makes her feel so special, his ways so different from any other man she’s known. But are her new feelings enough to overcome her difficult past with the man – or do they just complicate it?
This Christmas, Kaia Monroe will be opening more than presents. She might just learn to open her heart to love too.

Publisher’s Warning: This is an erotic novella that includes spankings, graphic sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

NOW FOR A TASTE…..

“Turn around.”
The first touch on her skin wasn’t a slap, but she jumped anyway. He trailed a line of kisses down over her skin, soft and gentle. He moved her hands, and then she felt his tongue slip along the cleft of her ass. Her muscles clenched and a shiver ran through her.
When he hit her she cried out, both from sharp pain, and from the release of the tension anticipation had built inside her. He’d started, and now it was only going to escalate.
The next slap hit the other side of her ass, the pain more intense this time. Oliver had a way of spanking her, of snapping his hand against her flesh that felt more like a bite than just his flesh against hers. But it was his skin touching hers, and that’s what she loved, beyond the pain.
“Bend over.” Oliver’s voice was rough, his breathing fast.
Oliver touched her briefly on her leg, running a finger along the crease at the top of her thigh, beneath her buttocks, then moving his fingers between her legs, rubbing against her wetness. She closed her eyes, concentrating on keeping her balance as he slipped one finger into her. For a moment he wiggled his finger, the fluttering feeling inside her making her gasp. Then he slid his finger out, moving it forward, slowly circling her clit.
Out of reflex her hips jerked forward, knees buckling slightly as something clenched deep inside her. But the effort to keep her balance forced her to hold still, even as Oliver rubbed her clit harder, fingers moving faster, and despite herself, her legs tensed again, but she managed to hold her stance.
“Good girl.” His voice was very close to her ear, and she realized with a start he was no longer sitting, but standing behind her. “Very good girl.”
Her heart swelled with love. There was just something about those words…
He struck her right cheek, much harder this time. She swayed to the left under the impact, her weight thrown to the side. With a strangled sound she dug her toes into the carpet, willing herself not to move her feet even one inch apart.
Oliver caressed her, rubbing his hand gently over her stinging skin, his other hand still buried between her legs, one finger gently thrusting into her slick wetness. The sharp pain sank into her, heating the fire that he’s lit inside her. The tension in her legs lessened under Oliver’s gentle touch, both from his hand on her ass, and from his finger slowly circling her clit. She breathed deeply, trying to gain control, not to let herself let go too soon, to prolong this amazing pleasure Oliver was giving her.

“…you will be the best “bad girl”, gymnastics has ever seen

Today for your reading enjoyment we have the multi-published author, Katherine Deane, and she has come to tell about the awesome new book she has coming out:

Wren’s Redemption

Wrens Redemption

Lets take a look:

Thank you so much for having me over, Alyssa. Jonathan and Wren have just met again for the first time in three years. He’s happy to see her. Wren? Not so much…

Jonathan couldn’t stop the shit eating grin as he plunked down on top of Paul’s desk. Yes, that little spanking had fueled a lot of memories and fantasy fodder, over the past three years. Her creamy flesh jiggling up and down, as he imprinted her with his red splotchy handprint. Granted, that had been extremely inappropriate. So had the thoughts he had had toward the then nineteen year old athlete. It was a smart move for him to take a break from the team. But if he had stayed, Wren wouldn’t be in the position she was in now. Falling from grace must have hurt her pretty bad. And it looked like she was still very angry. Her lips pursed, her blue eyes blazed, and if her arms squeezed any tighter around her chest, she would asphyxiate herself.
“Did you hear me, jackass?” she spat.
“I heard you loud and clear, sweetheart. And it sounds like you are itching to go back over my knee again, right now.” He took pleasure in her soft little gasp as her eyes widened and her cheeks blushed. He had always been able to fluster her, and he loved how easily she showed her emotions. She hadn’t changed a bit. Well, except for filling out a little more up top, and the hardened look in her eyes. He would fix that.
He leaned into her personal space, and listened as she took in a quick nervous breath. Grasping a tendril of her long hair, he twirled it around his finger a few times. “I like the purple. What’d your folks say?”
She caught her bearings, and yanked away from him. “What do you think?”
He was sure good old conservative Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery had had fits. He wondered how much of her lashing out was for the media, and how much was directed at her parents. “Well, it suits you and your personality.”
She rolled her eyes and snorted, sitting back against the chair stiffly. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He knelt down to get at her eye level and grasped her chin, “It means you haven’t given up yet. You’re stronger than they gave you credit for. And you are going to prove it to them when you make the national team in four months.”
Her eyes softened and he finally received a glimpse of the former Wren Montgomery, the sweetheart with the heart of gold. She sniffled.

“Who’s them?”
“The whole world, sweetie. Including you.” He let go of her chin and sat back on the desk, folding his arms and piercing her with a firm gaze. “But first, we need to get you through your last bit of PT, and you’re going to need a coach.”
“Are you going to act like this the whole time we are together?” Her brow furrowed and the pink flush spread to her ears.
“You’re asking if I’ll spank your bare bottom again.”
Her small squeak of embarrassment assured him he had all of her attention, even though she wouldn’t meet his gaze. It had worked three years ago. Why not?
“Yes, my little rebel, I’m going to work your ass harder than you have ever trained before. And when you give up, or don’t give your all, or give me too much attitude, I will punish you. And I promise you, when we are done, you will be the best “bad girl”, gymnastics has ever seen.” He stood up and held out his hand. “So what do you say?”
Her grip was stronger than he had anticipated, and Jonathan schooled his features not to wince, as she flashed her brilliant white teeth at him. “When do we start, Coach?”

YUMMY. So Katherine, what is the story all about?

Blurb:
Nineteen-year-old gymnast Wren Montgomery was America’s golden girl, but then it all came crashing down. As far as the media is concerned, it was a devastating ankle injury which began her downward spiral, but in her heart Wren knows better. The truth is that things started going wrong the day her beloved coach Jonathan Reilly not only rejected her romantic advances, but actually spanked her bare bottom as if she were a silly little girl when she tried to hide her heartbreak behind an angry outburst.

Now at twenty-two, after one poor decision after another Wren has become the “bad girl” of the gymnastics world. Desperate to break out of her slump and with nowhere else to turn, she decides to accept help from the best coach she ever had… the same man who spurned and then spanked her years ago.

Jonathan watched Wren’s fall from grace, and he fell with her. He still blames himself for leaving the team—and more importantly, leaving her—and now that he has the chance to help his little rebel get back on track, he isn’t going to let it slip through his fingers. This time he’ll be there for her no matter what, both when she needs a loving embrace and when she needs a firm hand applied to her bare bottom. Most important of all, if she still wants him to be more than just her coach, this time he won’t let anything keep him from claiming what is his.

Publisher’s Note: Wren’s Redemption is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Reckless, Sassy and His By Dulcie Taylor

A brand “spanking” new author has joined Blushing Books

Dulcie Taylor

This is her first book with Blushing but Dulcie has been writing short stories for a while. I’ll let her tell you all about what she had given us here. The cover alone is delicioso.

Reckless, Sassy and His BB cover

Released November 29, 2015

From the Back Cover:

Five shorts stories about reckless ladies that try, tempt, and push the men that love them.

A feminist forced to live with a cantankerous rancher, a woman trapped in a storm with only her regrets, a stubborn spirit needing three lifetimes to learn, and a few more.

Journey with these feisty ladies as they discover themselves and love, despite their best efforts to unknowingly sabotage themselves.

Here is a taste from one story:

BUTTING HEADS WITH THE DEVIL

In the 1800’s, women are not privy to much of the comings and goings of men, but Bianca Belle Caruthers wants to change that!  Planning to write about her experience to share with other women, Bianca dresses as a man and joins a poker game in a seedy saloon. But, getting caught was not part of Bianca’s plot – neither was being forced to stay with Benjamin McPherson, a local rancher that is as cantankerous as he is handsome.

Excerpt

He wasn’t in the house. She sat and began to eat her stew, despite her lack of appetite.

The dog came out of her room and took his place under the table. She called him a traitor but gave him a piece of her bread dipped in stew. He lapped it up greedily. Even a spoiled daddy’s girl like her knew how to cook. She prided herself on being well-rounded and independent.

That’s what would make her a good writer. Mr. McPherson had the wrong idea about her from the start. She didn’t do the things she did to push the limits with her father; she did them to learn about the world around her. She wanted to know what men did when they weren’t with their wives.

She had wanted to know what it was like to gamble and be free like a man. She had even wanted to know what whiskey tasted like on her tongue. And now, more than anything, she wanted to know what it felt like to have Benjamin slide inside her.

The door opened and she looked over her shoulder. He was sweaty and dusty from gathering his horses. He looked so masculine that she began to feel throbbing below again. What was it about him that made her secret parts swell?

“Are you hungry?”

She wanted to give him the cold shoulder to show him she was mad about his brutality, but she really wasn’t, and besides, it would look better if she warmed him up to her before making him mad enough to touch her again.

Even if it meant putting up with the sweet sting of his hand on her bottom, she’d do it just to have him near her again.

“I am. Is it poisoned?” His brows were raised. She shook her head.

“I couldn’t find any.”

He bent to remove his boots and then went to wash up. When he returned, he was clean and didn’t look nearly as dangerous as she knew he was.

“Go get the other chair in the bedroom.”

She did as he told her. In the room, she felt an electric zap shoot through her. The belt lay on the floor beside the chair. She picked it up, touching the worn, smooth leather. She wondered what it would have felt like against her skin. Would it have felt as thrilling as his hand?

***

Alyssa:  I have read this anthology and loved it. Dulcie, let me ask you a few questions so people get to know you.

Dulcie: Sure

Do you weave real life events and experiences into your fiction?

They say write what you know, so I use some real life knowledge.  For example, I’m in the field of nursing so I often have protagonist in the medical field. I try to set stories in places I’ve been or am somewhat familiar with.

Have you ever written something that made you wish you could be sucked into your own scene?

Um, hell yeah! There are many hot spanking scenes I’d like to jump into! Or even just the travelling stuff… one of my many WIP’s takes place in Columbia –insert author here please!

Where do you get your inspiration?

Always from a character that forms in my head – someone quirky, broken or facing a weird challenge. The story comes later.

What kind of research do you undergo for each new story?

Sometimes I have to pour through travel books or blogs to learn new things and sometimes there is no research at all.  Recently, I learned how to sail a small catamaran for one of the stories in another short story collection book awaiting release.  I do love learning new things though so it fun!

Do you write from start to finish or do you write in segments and piece it together later?

I write from start to finish but jump back and forth and add or delete things as I go as well.

What is something fun about you that readers might like to learn?

I always fall for my hero – just don’t tell my husband. My hero is always in love with someone else btw. -_-

THANKS FOR DROPPING BY, DULCIE.

LOVING LIAM

Well, Thanksgiving was wonderful as always, and the living room is in chaos with all of the decorations in various levels of disarray awaiting some industrious soul, (no, not I) to find just that perfect spot for it.

While you muddle through the transition from one holiday to another, please remember that during this time of year LESS is MORE. Pick those specific things that have meaning to you and your family, not what you think SHOULD have meaning and simply focus on those things.

Okay, here is a tantalizing particle from book #3 in the O’Connors. This is the last book focused on Liam and Jocelyn. Ciarán and Katherine will be the next brother to tell his story in 2016. But for now, take a taste of the last book of Liam and Jocelyn’s story, LOVING LIAM out Wednesday, December 2, 2015. (look back on an earlier blog for the Irish words and meanings-below, mo ghrá=my love) ENJOY!LovingLiam_500x755

Jocelyn
Just when newly married Jocelyn thought life could not get any better things began to crumble around her. She and Liam live an idyllic life on a prosperous ranch in the corner of the Bitterroot Mountains. Jocelyn knows better, but she has a secret that she’s keeping from Liam that threatens their happy existence and she knows what her traditional husband thinks about secrets. Is it worth the risk?

Liam
Jocelyn is the wife that Liam has longed for, right down to allowing him his old-fashioned way of dealing with things when she steps too far out of bounds. But she has trouble trusting him with everything. And now, something is not right and when he discovers how wrong things are , he is not sure how to handle his wife’s betrayal or if he even can.
After waiting ten years to finally have the life they have longed for, will Jocelyn choose to throw it all away to keep her secrets safe?

Excerpt:

“Jos, are you okay? I am here, mo ghrá.”
“Liam, I guess you will have to come get me, I hydroplaned into the ditch, and I hit my head on the steering wheel. I’m okay. But, I cannot get out of the ditch. I’m sorry. I am so sorry. I should have listened to you. I know you are angry.” The tears flowed. Her words garbled.
“Jocelyn, hush honey. Let me know where you are, so I know where to look.” Liam’s voice held concern, but was gentle and soothing, which made Jocelyn want to cry even more.
“Umm, I’m passed the Walter’s place, but not the Morgan’s place. Does that help?”
“Yep, so keep talking to me baby, and I will be on you soon. Keep your lights on.”
The next moments were tense as Liam coaxed conversation out of Jocelyn while he searched for her car. She was crying uncontrollably now even as he closed the distance. Once upon the vehicle, he was able to relax. He had been gripping the steering wheel so hard that he had to peel his hands off. He also thought grimly, they would be having a conversation about this event. He expected that if she were not hurt more than a bump on her head, she would be having a warm bottom session later this afternoon. He shook his head. This woman was the most exasperating woman he had ever known and he loved her desperately. She had the power to anger and excite him at the same time. What could you do with a woman like that, but be as passionate about life as she was and hold on for the ride?

Taming Texanna

Well, Liam’s Lessons – the end of Liam and Jocelyn’s story is due out December 2nd. Should be in ARC this week.

Got a tidbit for my new work- Taming Texanna

(a tidbit of info on the names: I was looking at family history and the neighbors they had and the names Louisiana, Alabama, and Texanna came up. So I have this cute threesome series that I want to name For Taming Texanna, Loving Louisiana and Anything for Alabama. All names from that time frame.

Now on to this cute western set in 1870’s after Civil War when Fort Worth was where cattle left for the Wichita market and trains. Colton McFadden, half Native American, the Civil war did not feel like his fight. He had been a Texas Ranger because it fit his personality, build up Texas and stop the more seedy part of life from interfering in the growth of Texas.

However, after the War, Fort Worth needed a lot of law enforcement as they grew by leaps and bounds due to cattle. Meanwhile, the Rangers he was previously a part of now that the war was over and the short run of the Texas Police was over, began to harass his mother and grandmother’s people. Not entering that fight either. His mother and grandmother safe with him, he joined the US Marshals to keep Fort Worth safe and lawful in its population explosion. Now they wanted him to settle down and stay close to home while manning their office in Fort Worth.

Texanna Rae Garrett was nineteen, living with a strict but clueless father who wanted his girl to get married and have babies, just like every other young lady. He wasn’t particular who she did it with. Anna liked that he did not push her to any one man to marry because there were so many nice cowboys to look at and ponder on with her friend Mandy.

Problem was Mandy was one to try anything once. Anna Rae was not as adventuresome so when Mandy started to spy on a particularly nice looking shopkeeper as he changed his clothes she was convinced to look too. Shocked at seeing underclothes she quickly looked away but not before Amanda’s cousin Colton, the U.S. Marshal, caught them.

Anna thought that if anyone was nice to look at, that Colton was one but he was a spanker Mandy had said and it sure looked like it as he just sent Mandy home to wait on him since her father had passed on, Colt was going to take care of his errant cousin.  Anna couldn’t afford for her father to find out she was in one more scrape because his warning rang in her ears of the fate of her back end if she did.

Wonder if Colt would handle it with her as well so he didn’t go tell her Pa. He wouldn’t be as hard as her own Pa who was already irritated with her. Well, a girl could hope anyway, right?
